Rajyothsava – Nov 23, 2014

Orlando Kannada Sangha celebrated the Rajyothsava on November 23rd. We were proud to bring in BR Chaya, the “Nightingale of Karnataka”, a great playback singer, stage performer and a popular sugama sangeetha singer from Karnataka. Ms. Chaya is a Rajyotsava Prashasti recipient from the State Government of Karnataka.

We also had various cultural programs performed by our local talented kids / adults. Here is a sample of the programs that were presented. Please stay tuned for further details and photographs.

Kannada Kali

Kannada Kali kicked off its 2014-2015 year last week at the Casselberry temple location. It was great to see all the kids again. It was a revision class – we went through what was covered earlier like Greetings, forming simple sentences, colors, body parts, numbers, ಅ ಆ ಇ ಈ. At the end of class, we also went to the temple with the kids and were able to attend the Ganesh Puja.

This time around we have divided the class into 3 different sections – ‘Elementary’, ‘Middle’ and ‘High’, so to speak. So, they are smaller groups and we can better cover the subject for their level and also have more one-on-one time.

We are also planning to introduce a 15 minute one-on-one conversation session between a kid and another parent to help them be comfortable speaking Kannada.

Those are some of the planned changes. We will see you all tomorrow at the Santoshi Maa Mandir @ 7:00 pm.
