Kannada Kali was started in January of 2014. It started with the goal of helping the children of Kannada families to continue to use the language and be familiar with it. Mukhyamantri Chandru who was visiting Orlando at the time, emphasized and encouraged the need for such a program for the children of today.
The Kannada Kali committee is headed by Pradeep Krishnamurthy and includes Rajshekhar Jambagi, Girish Budibetta, Yadav Olety, Shamala Purohit and Veda Bhat. Shamala Purohit and Veda Bhat are the main teachers assisted by the rest of the committee and parents of the kids as well.
The program is being held in two locations – Hindu temple at Casselberry and Santoshi Maa Mandir in West Orlando every Friday evening at 7:00 pm, alternating weekly between the two locations. We have kids ranging from 5 yrs – 15 yrs attending this class.
